We are organizing significant international exhibitions in India 2015; to begin with Smart Cities India 2015 expo is being scheduled at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, during 20-22 May 2015. Smart Cities India exhibition & conference supports the plans and projects of the Government of India, as announced by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Through Smart Cities India 2015 expo, we intend to demonstrate that it is possible to provide clean water; have efficient solid waste management; utilize low emission public transport; enable a proliferation of electric and hybrid vehicles for public and private use; use clean energy for smart buildings; etc. – all of which can be enabled through the use of ICT delivering G2C services, thereby creating a partnership between the government and the citizen.
India's attention is focussed on the urbanisation imperative and the smart city concept is gaining ground rapidly. The Indian urbanisation agenda is in three parts: urban renewal of 500 cities; rejuvenation of heritage cities, and the implementation of 100 "Greenfield" and "Brownfield" smart cities.
The Prime Minister has identified that smart cities should be hubs of economic activity, and therefore planning should visualize an "urban-dependent" population in addition to the urban populace. One of the aims of the smart city initiative should be to improve the quality of urban governance, thereby lending greater strength to the overall governance processes of the country.
