Those who suffer from digestive problems are often advised to modify their diet by increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables rich in fiber and also to drink a lot to help intestinal functions. Aloe vera is undoubtedly among the natural remedies to be combined with proper nutrition.

How aloe vera helps digestion

The aloe vera gel is renowned for its healing properties. It is useful for skin problems, to help the immune system in its functions, for some respiratory problems and obviously for the health of the stomach and intestines. All these properties are due to the presence within the gel of beta-carotene, vitamins C, E, B and a series of minerals.

The benefits for the digestive system, on the other hand, derive from the fact that aloe vera juice is particularly rich in natural enzymes that help the decomposition of sugars and fats, consequently improving digestion.

This remedy also helps the well-being of the intestinal flora and can be useful in case of colitis or constipation (since its laxative effect helps to expel waste substances from the digestive tract). Here, therefore, is that a regular consumption of aloe vera juice could help keep the stomach and intestines healthy. Of course we remember that it is always good to associate it with a correct diet.

Ready-made or homemade aloe vera juice

You can buy ready-made aloe vera juice in a herbalist's shop or pharmacy or make it yourself at home starting from the plant. In the first case it is good to make sure by reading the label that it is a 100% pure product in which no other ingredients have been added, for example sugar. If you want to have a more delicate effect on the stomach and intestines, it is better to choose an aloe gel without aloin, a substance that can have a very heavy laxative effect, also creating some contraindications (cramps, diarrhea and more). Keep in mind that most aloe juices on the market have been deprived of aloin.

If, on the other hand, you want to try to extract the aloe gel from the plant yourself, first you have to make sure that it is of the right species (there are in fact many types of aloe). You can then follow the recipe that we had already reported to you in a previous article.

In the case of home extraction, however, it may not be very easy to completely eliminate the aloin (the more yellow part of the gel). If you are not an expert, it is better to avoid the internal use of self-produced gel that you can safely use instead on the skin as needed.

You can consume the aloe gel as it is or mix it with a fruit or vegetable extract prepared by you or with apple or pineapple juice without added sugar.
