09 February 2016, Zambia- It was recently learnt that Rajan Mahtani is planning to set up a bio ethanol plant in the Luapula Province in association with the Sunbird Group at the cost of USD 190 million. Mahtani Group of Companies from Zambia and Sunbird Group from the UK have come together with a view to utilize the resources of the Zambia in the best possible way and spread the seeds of development in the nation.The news has given Luapula Province a ray of hope as the locals were previously going through a rough phase due to lack of employment. As per the current estimates, about 7, 000 workers would be under direct employment of the factory and another 25, 000 farmers input would be required with a view to supply the basic input for the factory- cassava.
Chikondi, a local resident of Luapula province comments, “Rajan Mahtani has given us a hope with the news of bio-ethanol plant. Here, life is very difficult for us as we hardly get an permanent work. We find a lot of problems in feeding ourselves and our family. When the new plant will start, I will try and secure my place as a worker. We will always be thankful to Rajan Mahtani. May God bless him with good health and a lot of happiness.”
