Jay P Desai, Founder & Managing Director, Universal Consulting India Pvt Ltd and EvolvAlytics Consulting Pvt Ltd, has 25 years of management consulting experience in India. He has built Universal Consulting from the ground up, twenty years ago, into one of the well-known Strategy Consulting Firms in India. Prior to founding Universal Consulting, Jay worked with Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in Mumbai, from 1989 to 1994. He holds the AMP degree from the Harvard Business School, an MBA from Willamette University and an MS in Biology from Purdue University. Jay is also the author of a book titled “Accountability: Angst Awareness Action”, on India’s governance systems, published by Pearson in 2011. What are your expansion plans for the current year?
In FY 2015-16, we plan to expand our Business Analytics company, EvolvAlytics, by providing Analytics services to our existing Clients who see value in this combined offering with our consulting services, to help them develop actionable strategies, based on deep insights developed through data analytics.
What are the key target markets?
From a geographic standpoint, in FY 2015-16, we plan to focus on growth in our New Delhi and Southern India offices. We also see a lot of opportunity and requests for work from mid-market companies in North America and Europe, who are now once again actively looking at Entry Strategy work into India.
Your growth target for FY16?
We expect to see a reasonable step-up in growth in FY16, with further acceleration in FY17, as both global and domestic companies execute their India growth plans, that have been on the back-burner for some years now.
What will be your focus area going forward?
Our focus area over the next 2 years will be to synergistically leverage our strengths in Strategy Consulting (through UC) and in Business Analytics (through EvolvAlytics), to provide our Clients with a combined bouquet of professional services that help them to Adapt their strategies and Evolve their businesses in the dynamic and ever-changing business landscape of India.
