In a previous press release (June 9), we looked at the relative disposition of Mind and Consciousness through our waking and sleeping states. In the current release, we look at case studies that elucidate the movement of our spirit into the field of Consciousness. From the description of those who have gone through the paranormal phenomena, we see that our lives can be enriched by understanding the wider Consciousness. It is the unwillingness to open ourselves to the ‘Beyond’ that makes us live in a self-enclosed cocoon wallowing in our self-centered activities.
The first case study here is that of an Out-of-Body Experience (OBE) as narrated by a correspondent to Dr Reynor Johnson, an English Physicist. This is given in the book ‘Leaving the Body’ authored by Scott Rogo. The following is the content of that narration:
“It was a hot summer evening. I lay on the lawn in the back garden trying to get cool. The sun had almost set and I watched the planets appear. Suddenly I felt my head swelling. It seemed to increase in size to contain the whole world; all the stars too. Everything that had happened and would ever happen were within myself. I was in my eighth year at the time and so knew little of history and nothing of religion. I saw many things, events I later learned about, also much I have as yet been able to discover from any physical source. After what seemed untold ages, I became aware of my mother telling me to come inside. There was a brief glimpse of my body lying on the grass with my mother bending over it. Then I was awake feeling very bewildered. It was some time before I recovered. After all these years I still refer to that experience whenever I want to verify anything I hear of or read about. There is always a sense that all happenings are right and in accordance with plan.”
The second case study here is of a woman who went through a NDE after reaching a critical cancer condition. This is reported by IANDS (iands.org) in April 2011. The following lines form a small part of the woman’s narration:
“I was drifting in and out of consciousness during this time and I could feel my spirit actually leaving my body. I saw and heard the conversations between my husband and the doctors taking place outside my room, about 40 feet away and down a hallway. I was later able to verify this conversation to my shocked husband. Then I actually crossed over to another dimension where I was engulfed in a total feeling of love. I also experienced extreme clarity of why I had the cancer, why I had come into this life in the first place, what role everyone in my family played in my life in the grand scheme of things, and generally how life works. The clarity and understanding I obtained in this state is almost indescribable. Words seem to limit the experience - I was at a place where I understood how much more there is than what we are able to conceive in our 3-dimensional world. I realized what a gift life is and that I was surrounded by loving spiritual beings who were always around me even when I did not know it.”
Once we give ourselves over to the wonderment of what lies beyond the apparent, we begin to perceive the source of compassion and let our lives be enriched by it. The movement of the center of awareness from the Mind to the Consciousness is graphically depicted and discussed in the webpage http://spirituality.yolasite.com/consciousness.php. More along these lines can be found in my book.
